TRUSTEES AND OTHERS
About the Trust BCT is run on behalf of the local community by a Board of Trustees. There can be up to seven elected Trustees and two co-opted Trustees. The Trustees are elected by BCT's Ordinary Members. Everyone living in Birse parish and on the Electoral Register for the area, is eligible to become an Ordinary Member by completing a BCT Membership Form.
The Trustees have themselves to be local Ordinary Members of the Trust and can serve for up to five years before they have to stand down. There is the opportunity under BCT's constitution to elect at least one new Trustee each year at BCT's AGM, due to either a Trustee standing down or an existing vacancy.
The Trustees in May 2016 are Jean McLeod (Chair), Doug Boyle, Jonathan Kitching, John Hector and Guy Haslam.
The local membership also appoints a local member for a three year term as BCT’s Patron on the recommendation of the Trustees. The current Patron is Robert Dinnie.
BCT’s financial year runs from 1st January to 31st December and the Trustees have an average of ten Board meetings a year (click here to see recent Board Minutes). The Trust’s AGM is usually in May.
BCT has a wholly owned subsidiary, the Birse Trading Company (BTCo). The current BTCo Directors are local members Paul Chapman, Doug Boyle and Jane Winton.
